The Passage of Time & My Mother & Father’s Health

As my parents age I grow a little more concerned with their health care with each new year. My mom and dad used to be such robust, healthy individuals. But these days it seems when I return home I observe some new troubling development with one or the other of their health care.

Not too long ago my mom developed these odd light spots whenever she exposed her skin to the sun for more than a couple minutes. Thankfully it turned out to be nothing too serious. We found a site that explained the harmless cause of these blotches: White Spots From Tanning. This website really assisted us to put our minds at ease and feel more informed about the truly serious melanoma symptoms we should know.

This year my mother thinks she began experiencing gluten intolerance symptoms. I directed her to the website I linked you to in that last sentence, and today she feels much more confident to tackle the potential of a gluten free future. She’s seeing her doctor about it now, but we’re still not sure if my mother has Celiac Disease (gluten intolerance) or not.

And in the mean time, my dad has experienced Barrett’s Esophagus symptoms, something probably more people may be experiencing than they realize. While Barrett’s Esophagus itself isn’t specifically deadly, it can many times accompany more serious problems such as stomach cancer and it can also be a precursor to esophagus cancer.

DISCLAIMER: While I hope my story and the internet resources I discovered to help my family in turn help you too, please note that I am not a medical doctor and you should consult a medical professional before taking any medical advice from the Internet.
