February 7, 2010

Today more individuals than ever are choosing to ship a car internationally as opposed to leaving it behind and depending on free transport or having to get another car. While international vehicle shipping may seem quite complicated and pricey, when it’s done correctly and with suitable preparation, it can be painless, convenient and the right choice.

When you determine to ship your car globally, you have three ways to do this: RORO (Roll on and Roll off), dedicated container shipping or with a consolidated 40-foot high cube container. Before you achieve your decision, assess about the restrictions regarding car imports in the country you’re planning to move your auto. Their rules and vehicle taxes may vary so you need to be familiar. Planning is the best way to assure a riskless shipment of your car.

Determine who is going to move your car. You can use a moving company that will ensure of every little detail or you can hire a freight forwarder, which acts as a middleman and will save you money. Either choice will advise you of requirements and will furnish you with containers for shipping.

Once you determine on the company, you prefer to use, choose the method for worldwide vehicle moving you want. If you select RORO, it means what it says: the automobile will be rolled on and off the vessel. If you go with container transport, your car will be loaded inside the ocean container by a car loading warehouse and then the container gets loaded onto the vessel. An unshared container will just hold one auto while a 40′ high cube container can support up to four cars. It will then be transported overseas and shipped to its new foreign location.
